With your continued generosity, the children supported by the Little Angels gain access to an education that will allow them not only to survive but to thrive. The Little Angels Service Team knows that providing a quality education for our sponsored children depends a great deal on the ability of the local schools to hire and retain quality teachers. With that end, Little Angels is launching a new initiative: Hearts for Teachers. While we welcome all contributions, we are particularly encouraging teachers to become involved. Along with providing financial support, we hope to cultivate connections among teachers as well.
We will begin with the 14 teachers at at St. Joseph’s High School and 11 teachers at Mother Teresa’s Upper Primary School. The students in attendance at these schools, many of whom are sponsored by Little Angels, are most often very poor and are unable to pay tuition. In turn, the school continually struggles to pay its teachers a living wage. Our goal is to increase the teachers’ salaries by a modest amount per month, and thereby encourage the teachers in their work and improve their lives, as well as the lives of their families.
This additional support for teachers adds a key sustainability component to the Little Angels service team’s overall strategy. Our vision is comprehensive. As we move forward, we will strive to support both students and teachers in the hope of creating a solid foundation for educational success in this community.
